INDIA SHINING

India is rapidly emerging as one of big economic powers. It is the country with second largest population base, the population being 1.1 billion. It is this huge population which has proved to be a boon for this biggest democracy. It has shown its power in all the sectors be it IT, Medicine, Telecom. It is fourth best in terms of purchasing power parity and seveth largest in terms of area with area ranging about 1.1 square miles.

The country which laid the foundation of world's first university is now the base of numerous universities with major being IIT's, IIM's etc which are churning large number of engineers, doctors, management graduates every year. It is this large pool that has helped in rapid growth of this country.

The IT sector has given a new opportunity to this country. Now this country forms headquarter of lot of top IT companies. The outsourcing saga has created vast opportunities for the people. And the best thing is that it is not only the big cities which are contributing in the growth but the smaller regions & cities are also coming ahead. For eg. Gurgaon which before a decade ago was unknown to lot of people is now base for lot top IT companies, BPO's, KPO's.

In medicine the country already finds its mention in history as Ayurveda finds its origin in this country. Due to the number of famous hospitals and eminent doctors this country is largely attracting foreigners for getting treatment done. This medical tourism is increasingly adding to the economic growth.

In defense, India has made great progress after independence. It is emerging as one of the nuclear powers. It declined to sign the NPA (Non Proliferation Treaty) in spite of the pressure from UN. In 1998 the first nuclear tests were carried out by the country which were followed by some more tests in 2004. The tests got lot of opposition from various quarters of the world but America praised India giving it the title of Responsible Nuclear Nation. It has made significant investment in the nuclear field to harness it for its civic needs.

India's GDP has been growing at the rate of nearly 6% in last decade and 8% since last four years. The growth is indicated by the fact that the Sensex has almost tripled in last three years. This strong growth has been fueled mainly by the industrial sector and service sector. More and more comapnies are finding there presence in fortune 500 companies.

Many leading economists have predicted that India is poised well to take over China in terms of growth and emerge as Asian super power. But for this to happen government will have to take significant steps to improve infrastructure, promote basic education, create right policies in place. Lets keep our fingers crossed for what lies in future for India and Indians.
